What Is Xeomin? 

Xeomin is a botulinum toxin type A injectable that is approved for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines. Botulinum toxin type A is a neurotoxin that temporarily prevents muscle movement by disrupting the signals between the nerves and muscles. Known as a smart toxin, Xeomin relies on a double-filtered formula to provide a smoother complexion without any of the unnecessary additives. Using a proprietary XTRACT Technology, the botulinum toxin is filtered to remove any extra or unnecessary proteins, resulting in one of the cleanest and purest botulinum toxins available.  

Who Is a Candidate for Xeomin?

Xeomin Treatment 

After you have had your initial consultation with Dr. Mario Yco to discuss your facial concerns and aesthetic goals, you will be ready to receive Xeomin injections. Dr. Yco will begin by cleansing the skin of the treatment area before injecting the product into the muscles in your forehead using a fine gauge needle. Most patients do not find the treatment to be uncomfortable, but a topical numbing agent can be provided upon request. Treatment with Xeomin usually takes around 10-20 minutes.  

Post-Op Care 

Common side effects can include slight swelling and bruising immediately after injection, but these should subside after a day or two. For the first 24 hours after receiving your Xeomin injections, you will be asked to abstain from any strenuous activities and exercises, as well as avoiding sun exposure, touching your face, and lying down for the first 4 hours. This is to prevent any unwanted product migration that could lead to some annoying side effects. You can begin to see results as early as 3-4 days after treatments, but it can take up to a week. Results from Xeomin have been shown to last around 3 months but can be longer or shorter depending on the patient.
