Facelift Q & A

YCO Facial Plastic Surgery

How can a face-lift help me look younger?

Face-lift surgery can reduce the overall signs of facial wrinkles and skin laxity (looseness) in the lower part of your face and jaw.

As the aging process sets in, your skin relaxes, or sags, as fat that once kept your face supple slowly disappears. A face-lift can make the skin around your cheeks, jawline, and neck look and feel tighter.

As a result, you look like a younger version of yourself, with restored facial contours. In some cases, Dr. Yco combines a face-lift with other restorative cosmetic procedures like fat transfers, dermal fillers, or eyelid surgery, for the ultimate solution to minimize the signs of aging.

What does a face-lift procedure involve?

Depending on your specific goals, and if you’re combining face-lift surgery with other procedures, Dr. Yco may recommend either a local or general anesthetic to keep you comfortable during the surgery.

A traditional face-lift involves making an incision around your hairline by your ears so that Dr. Yco can sculpt, reposition, and lift your facial muscles and tissue to the desired placement.

After that, he repositions your skin and closes the incisions in your hairline. Since he’s a highly-skilled facial plastic surgeon, he always takes extra care to minimize scarring.

How long is the recovery after a face-lift?

Immediately following the surgery, your skin is swollen and bruised, but this subsides in a few days. Pain medications usually help with any discomfort, and Dr. Yco and his medical team monitor your progress as you heal.

Typically, Dr. Yco bandages your face to minimize swelling. You may also have a drainage tube behind your ear to help the fluid drain from the incision site.

You return to YCO Facial Plastic Surgery within five days so Dr. Yco can remove your stitches. You’ll be able to see your results soon after that.

Most likely, you’ll need at least a week or two for the initial recovery period. You may need to take time off from work for about 10 days, or until you feel comfortable going out in public.

Before you go in for face-lift surgery, Dr. Yco explains your recovery in detail so you know what to expect, what to avoid, and how to help the recovery process so you can feel confident and comfortable.
