Cheek Augmentation Procedure

You will be given a local or general anesthetic during your procedure to ensure your comfort. Dr. Yco will begin by making an incision on the cheek inside of the mouth, or sometimes under the lower eyelid, before inserting the implant into the pocket under the skin. He will then reposition the implant according to your aesthetic desires before suturing up your incisions. Implants are typically made of synthetic silicone or polythene, but in some cases can be made from bone taken from your own body.

Post- Op Care

In most cases you will be sent home with gauze covering your incisions you may be advised to wear a tight compression garment to minimize swelling and support the new position of your cheeks. If your implants were placed via incisions in the inside of your mouth, you may be limited to a liquid diet during your initial recovery. Other post-operative instructions can include how to properly care for your wounds, what activities to avoid, and how to take your prescribed medication. It may take up to 6 weeks for swelling to completely resolve, but most people are able to return to their normal activities after 10 days. For optimal recovery, Dr. Yco may refer you to have hyperbaric Co2 treatments or red light therapy.
